“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” marks the debut of the DC shared film universe’s Batman, as played by Ben Affleck. While we know the character will pop up in this August’s “Suicide Squad” and be part of the upcoming “Justice League” film, a new solo Batman film has yet to be announced. And while Affleck doesn’t mention Batman or DC specifically, he has confirmed to “DC All Access” that he is working with DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns on something.
“Geoff Johns is a brilliant guy,” said Affleck. “I consider him to be the most valued resource on all things comic book. And every time I like something in a comic I mention, he goes, ‘Oh yeah, I wrote that.’ Now I just think he’s bullshitting me, because he says he wrote everything. He and I are working together on something and I really am excited about it and I love him. He’s the best.”
It was rumored last summer during Comic-Con International that Affleck and Johns were co-writing the script for the next solo Batman film, which would also star and be directed by Affleck. Warner Bros. has not confirmed the existence of the project, but Affleck’s comments confirm that he is working with Johns on something.
Affleck’s response can be seen at the 3:49 mark in the video below. “Batman v Superman” arrives in theaters on March 25.
