Paramount Pictures has cast model Kelly Rohrbach to play C.J. Parker, the role originated by Pamela Anderson, in the big-screen remake of “Baywatch.”
She joins Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario in the action-comedy from “Horrible Bosses” director Seth Gordon. Johnson posted a video on Instagram this morning of the two of them running in slow motion on the beach.
Rohrbach has a handful of television credits on her resume, but as Variety notes, “Baywatch” would be her biggest role to date.
Featuring a tone compared to “21 Jump Street,” the film is believed to center on a by-the-book lifeguard (Johnson) who’s forced to team with a rule-breaking hothead (Efron) to save their beach from an oil tycoon.
Airing from 1989 to 2001, first on NBC and then in syndication, “Baywatch” was a starring vehicle for David Hasselhoff, and propelled the careers of Anderson, Nicole Eggert, David Chokachi, Yasmine Bleeth and Jason Momoa, among others.
A pleasure welcoming @kellyrohrbach to our #BAYWATCH family for the iconic role of “CJ Parker”. Yes, she’s a walking smoke stack but more importantly… she’s smart, tough and funny. Just the way we like ’em. Get ready world, we can’t wait to bring you our generation’s #BAYWATCH! You’ll have fun… (last emoji somewhat inappropriate).
