WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for "Survived Much Worse," the latest episode of Batwoman, which aired Sunday on The CW.

Batwoman has recast Kate Kane, and now her new actor has expressed her excitement.

Wallis Day tweeted that she was "super excited" to finally announce her casting. "I'm sure you can imagine how much this means to me and how incredible it's been working on the show so far," she wrote. "Everyone's made me feel so welcome and it's amazing being back home with my DC family."

Day previously had a role on the Syfy series Krypton, which centered on Superman's homeworld two generations before its ultimate destruction. She portrayed Nyssa-Vex, the love interest of Superman's grandfather Seg-El -- and the eventual mother of the Man of Steel's father Jor-El. Day replaces Kate's original actor Ruby Rose, who departed the series after Season 1.

Day will play a large role in the second half of Batwoman Season 2 as an "altered" version of Kate Kane who is now "unrecognizable" after sustaining significant injuries in a plane crash. "It would have been a clunky transition between Season 1 and Season 2 if we had just full-blown recast Kate with no organic story behind it,"  Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries said about why the recasting happened later in the season.

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox, Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane and Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton-Kane. New episodes air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
