Warner Bros.' "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" may pit its two title characters against each other, but they're both winners at the international box office. Deadline reports that the film grossed $46m worldwide in addition to its $15m domestic haul, bringing its box office total up to $468.6m.

"Batman v Superman" is now the fourth highest global opening behind "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," "Jurassic World" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2." However, the report points out that many other films stagger their worldwide releases; for instance, while "Batman v Superman" includes China in its global box office total, many do not.

Nevertheless, the film scored the biggest opening of the year in the U.K. It also earned the biggest opening weekend, from Friday to Sunday, in the U.K. of any superhero film ever; however, the film drops to third behind "Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" when Thursday night preview earnings are added into the opening weekend totals.

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is now playing in theaters.
