Since it carries the weight of greatly expanding upon the new DC movie mythology established in 2013's "Man of Steel," expectations are high for 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." In addition to introducing an all-new film Batman (Ben Affleck) to audiences, the film will mark the big screen debut of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and also feature cameos from a few other Justice Leaguers -- like Jason Momoa's Aquaman.

While speaking with Variety Affleck spoke to the amount of pressure he feels being a part of the birth of a massive film franchise. "I think there is a ton of pressure on it," said Affleck. "I mean I would be bulls-ting you to say there isn't." He elaborated further on this topic, adding, "We are a very kind of instant gratification culture when it comes to analyzing the film business. And there is a lot of hyperbole involved. Nonetheless, there's a lot of pressure on it. If it doesn't do well, that will be extremely disappointing."

As Batman, one of the most popular and prominent superheroes to ever exist, Affleck's involvement goes far beyond just appearing in "BvS." Variety points out that the actor has had to move two of his other projects ("The Accountant" and "Live By Night") to make room for superhero movies. So far, we know Affleck has the two-part "Justice League" team-up films, which Variety says will shoot next spring. Variety also mentions another WB/DC film Affleck's committed to, guessing that it might be the rumored Batman solo film (possibly titled "The Batman"). While Warner Bros. has not confirmed the existence of a new solo Bat-movie, rumors emerged last month about the possible film's plot.

With the launch of the shared DC Comics film universe, Affleck predicts great success for Warner Bros. "You'll see next year they are going to have a great year," Affleck said. "They are now developing ... probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world. And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it's going to be massive."

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens on March 25, 2016.
