Confirming reports from a few months back -- and honoring the wishes of fans -- Warner Bros. has announced that the R-rated "Batman v Superman" Ultimate Edition is headed to select theaters for a special one-night event next Monday, June 27. The catch: You'll only be able to buy tickets through the DC All-Access app.

DC Comics revealed the news in the following post to Twitter:

Location are very select, as it appears from the app that only the following theaters across the United States will hold screenings for the 151-minute director's cut:

Not only does the Ultimate Edition include 20-minutes deleted footage and edgier content, but it also has Jena Malone's cameo as DC Comics character Jenet Klyburn and the "Justice League" villain Steppenwolf. You can check out a trailer for the cut here.

"Batman v Superman" cinematographer Larry Fong sounded off on the Ultimate Edition, singing praises for it in a Twitter post:

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Ultimate Edition" -- the first major studio film to be released on a 100GB 4K Blu-ray -- arrives on Digital HD June 28 and on Blu-ray July 19.
