Part of me wants to believe Mattel's new Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots set is deliciously subversive commentary about the manufactured premise of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Y'know, two heroes forced into a mechanical fight for the audience's enjoyment. But then the other part takes over and I think, "Cool! Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots!"

This update of the classic game boasts "realistic sounds and jaw-jolting action," as players hammer away at the opposing superhero until one of the fighters in sent flying (presumably as opposed to the alarming telescoping-head effect of the earlier games).

Or players can just do what kids have done for decades, and use the little plastic fighters to repeatedly punch siblings or friends until everyone gets fed up with the game. Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots: Batman v Superman Edition is priced at $25.
