The numbers are in from Fathom Events' limited release of "Batman: The Killing Joke," and the R-rated animated feature raked in a solid $3.175 million from Monday night showings alone. More screening were added for Tuesday night, but those numbers have yet to be reported.

Considering "Batman: The Killing Joke" was only a limited release, the film's box office numbers are incredibly strong -- especially after the mixed reaction from the film's premiere at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Overall, "Batman: The Killing Joke" came third place at the domestic box office on Monday night. Paramount Pictures' "Star Trek Beyond," naturally, held first place -- not a surprise considering this is its first week at the box office -- followed by Universal's "The Secret Life of Pets," which continues to show lasting power, even three weeks after its debut.

"Batman: The Killing Joke" is currently available for digital download, and arrives on Blu-ray/DVD on August 2, 2016.
