When the news that Ben Affleck will no longer be directing the solo “Batman” film broke, people naturally wondered what that meant for the film's future. With a brand new search for a director currently ongoing, it’s now been reported that there have been some changes made to the films script.

In their report about Affleck's departure, Deadline confirmed that a rewrite of the film's script was just turned in to Affleck and DC CCO Geoff Johns (who wrote the original script) by Chris Terrio, the Oscar-winning writer for “Argo”.

While Affleck leaving the project might have come as a shock, it’s been reported for some time now that both Affleck and the executives at Warner Bros. were unhappy with the film's script. Author Bret Easton Ellis mentioned the film's reported script issues during a November podcast, and The Hollywood Reporter also claimed that Affleck’s original comments on the film's script (when he mentioned he would only direct if everything “came together”) were due to growing concerns with it.

Regardless of when we’ll see “The Batman,” Affleck’s Caped Crusader next appears in “Justice League,” due to hit theaters on Nov. 17 and directed by Zack Snyder.

“The Batman” also stars Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke. The film hasn’t been given a release date.
