Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's "Batman" #50 was the top-selling title in March 2016, but Marvel Comics remained the #1 publisher overall according to Diamond Comics Distributors. "Superman" #50 surged up the charts to the #4 position for the month.
Though it ceded the #1 slot to DC Comics' Dark Knight, Marvel took 7 of the top 10 best-selling issues in March. "Star Wars" was the publisher's best-selling single issue at #3 on the charts. The latest issue of "Amazing Spider-Man" landed at position #5, while "International Iron Man" and "Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Alpha" debuted at #9 and 10, respectively.
BOOM! Studios' "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" #1 debuted strong in the #2 position overall, thanks to a combination of strong fan interest and multiple variant covers.
"The Walking Dead Volume 25" topped the graphic novel sales charts, with fellow Image Comics title "Paper Girls" taking the #2 position with its first collection.
Overall, Marvel commanded 37.39% of the Direct Market in dollar shares, and 42.71% unit shares. DC Comics accounted for 26.32% in dollars, and 25.94% in units. Image was third, making up just over 8.5% of the market.
Monthly comics sales were up slightly from February, but down from March 2015. Graphic novel sales were up significantly, both from February and March of last year.
