According to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog, Batman is set to star in his own touring stage show. Currently, the project is titled "Batman Live," and is being developed with Nick Grace Management and Water Lane Prods. Both entities produced the "Walking With Dinosaurs" and "Mamma Mia!" touring shows.Writing the script for the project are Alan Burnett and Stan Berkowitz. Both are well known collaborators with Bruce Timm on the various DC Animated shows from "Batman: The Animated Series" through to "Justice League Unlimited." Berkowitz most recent foray with the DC characters was last year's "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies," the DC Universe Animated direct-to-video project based on the Jeph Loeb/Ed McGuinness comic of the same name. Burnett wrote the animated "Green Lantern: First Flight." In addition, both men have writing credits on "Static Shock" and "Batman Beyond. The Heat Vision post goes on to write, "The show is neither a musical nor a Broadway-bound theatrical production but rather an elaborate arena production aimed at kids and families." The storyline is currently under wraps, but, Heat Vision notes, "the show will feature numerous villains."Superhero productions have a hard time adapting to the stage. Heat Vision mentions both, "It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Superman!" and "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark." The Superman musical closed after a short time, but reemerged as a rarely seen one-off special on ABC in the mid-70s. "Turn Off the Dark," meanwhile, missed its expected spring premiere and has yet to lock down a new opening date. The show has also seen leads Evan Rachel Wood and Alan Cumming walk away from the project."Batman Live," currently has no release date, but is expected to be ready by the time the third of Christopher Nolan's "Batman" films hits theaters.
