Batman's latest character creations will serve enormous roles in the world of the caped crusader in this fall's Fear State event and going forward.

According to Batman Group editor Ben Abernathy while speaking with SYFY WIRE, Miracle Molly and the Ghost-Maker will "play pivotal roles in Fear State and will prove to be important allies to Batman." The two are some of James Tynion IV's new characters introduced into the Batman mythos. So far, they have served primarily as supporting characters for the most part, but Abernathy hints at more to come from them in the future.

"We've worked hard to introduce an array of compelling new characters alongside the deep gallery of heroes and villains in Gotham," Abernathy said, "Not just in Batman but across the line." Ghost-Maker first appeared in Batman #100, with Miracle Molly cameoing in Issue #106 for a full reveal and first cover appearance later on in Issue #108. Even though the writer will be departing Batman, the two mark only a handful of Tynion's original creations that he will leave behind, which also includes Punchline, the Gardener, Peacekeeper-01 and more.

"Molly is a fascinating character," Abernathy said, describing her as having a "focused set of ideals" and claiming that she will "play a real central role to Fear State." Miracle Molly is a member of the Unsanity Collective, a community that believes in ending human suffering through technological advancement of the human body, while purging the mind's memories of who a person was so that they can become someone new, someone better. So far, the Unsanity Collective has been used as a scapegoat by Simon Saint and Scarecrow to stir up fear in the city and support for the Magistrate program, which recently led an attack on the Collective's people.

Ghost-Maker is also a character that gets Abernathy excited, who claims that there will be plenty more to come for him next year. "Ghost-Maker might be my favorite of all the new characters introduced," Abernathy said. "I can't WAIT to share some plans we have for him in 2022!" Ghost-Maker trained with Bruce Wayne before he was Batman, but remained more of a myth than a legend.

The vigilante has had an ongoing story within the backup issues of Batman since Issue #107, which have all served to highlight Ghost-Maker's skills and abilities. The story will wrap up in Batman 2021 Annual #1, which Abernathy claimed fans will want to pick up. "It's gonna blow your MIND!" were his exact words.

Batman 2021 Annual #1 goes on sale on Nov. 30, 2021 from DC Comics. Miracle Molly will receive her own solo issue with Batman Secret Files: Miracle Molly #1, which goes on sale Sep. 21. The two will also be seen within the pages of Fear State this fall.
