Since its release in early November, "Batman: Arkham City" has earned critical acclaim across the board, with many game reviewers calling it one of the best games of the year. The public agrees as well, with over two million copies of the game selling in the first week of release alone off of an initial shipment of over 4.6 million. Now, the Rocksteady Studios-developed game is getting some serious love from the folks at Spike TV, scoring a number of nominations for the network's annual award show.

Every year, Spike TV hosts the Video Game Awards where it recognizes the best in gaming in a number of categories, including Best Graphics, Best PS3 Game, Best Xbox 360 Game and others, not the least of which is Game of the Year. There's little question "Batman: Arkham City" is on track to win some awards with nominations in the following categories:

  • Best Action/Adventure Game
  • Best Adapted Video Game
  • Best Original Score
  • Best Graphics
  • Best Performance By a Human Male: Mark Hamill (The Joker)
  • Best Performance By a Human Female: Tara Strong (Harley Quinn)
