Love the video game world of Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Asylum? Well, you're in luck, because Warner Bros. is planning to release a third installment of the franchise later this year.

During the studio's 2012 Q4 earnings conference call, Time Warner Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer John K. Martin acknowledged that a third Arkham game is in the works. "We also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise," he said. "So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013."

Considering those games were massive successes and helped redefine Batman in pop culture in a way similar to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, it's no surprise that WB would want to pump out a third one. T

he next Arkham game will reportedly follow a different path than its predecessors, though. Variety reported in July there were plans to make a sequel to Arkham City. It is said that this will be a prequel game that details Batman's first interactions with the Joker. The new Arkham game will also be influenced by Silver Age comic books.
