J.J. Abrams, Jonathan Nolan and HBO want to send you on vacation. The catch? You might not survive! Bad Robot Productions and the creator of Person of Interest are teaming up to create a pilot based on the sci-fi thriller Westworld.

Written and directed by novelist Michael Crichton, the 1973 film is set in a resort called Delos that allows high-paying visitors to stay in one of three areas that recreate various times and places from history utilizing robots instead of actors: West World, Medieval World and Roman World. As you might expect, the robots eventually go bad, leading to an all-out chase between Yul Brenner's robotic Gunslinger and Peter Martin's Blane.

Westworld was followed in 1976 by Futureworld and in 1980 with a short-lived television series called Beyond Westworld.

Nolan and Lisa Joy (Burn Notice, Pushing Daisies) are working on the pilot, which will then be presented to HBO for consideration.
