Official press release
(LOS ANGELES, July 23, 2007) – Seven Seas Entertainment is pleased to announce that Madeleine Rosca’s award-winning manga Hollow Fields is going back to press. Earlier this month, Rosca was the only westerner among four winners to be awarded a prize in Japan’s first ever “International Manga Award” for her work on Hollow Fields. The initial print run of Hollow Fields was 25,000 copies, which filled orders from the book market, direct market, and Scholastic Book Fairs. However, Hollow Fields is now going back to press to fill a substantial number of back orders.
“This is the first time we’ve had to go right back to press within a month of a book’s initial print run,” said Seven Seas President Jason DeAngelis. “This is testament, not only to Madeleine’s great talent, but an indication of a bright future for original English language manga.”
Hollow Fields is a three-volume manga series for all ages that tells the story of little Lucy Snow, who, in a macabre twist of fate, finds herself enrolled at Miss Weaver’s Academy for the Scientifically Gifted and Ethically Unfettered-also known as Hollow Fields. Located on the outskirts of Nullsville and run by the insidious Engineers, the grim boarding school dedicates itself to raising the next generation of mad scientists and evil geniuses.
Hollow Fields Vol. 1 is in stores now with the second volume set for a first quarter 2008 release.
