Recently, Marvel has been hyping its upcoming slate of licensed video games, but perhaps none of their projects is as exciting and mysterious as the upcoming Avengers title from Crystal Dynamics. Today, some new details about the game -- referred to only as The Avengers Project so far -- have come to light. According to IGN, which uncovered a few details from job postings on the Crystal Dynamics site, The Avengers Project will be a third-person action title, with a focus on "shared" and "social" online play.

The job postings for a "Lead Level Designer" and an "Experienced Combat Designer" offer a glimpse of what's to come in The Avengers Project. For instance, the Lead Level Designer will create "fun and unique online experiences," with a focus on "the social implications of shared gameplay" and "various game modes and campaigns." The Combat Designer position, on the other hand, calls for someone to "plan, prototype and build combat systems that directly apply to a 3rd person cover based action adventure game." Taken together, these details could suggest an online game or perhaps even an MMO, though that is only speculative at this time.
