She may not appear in Avengers: Infinity War, but a new interview with Josh Brolin is the latest indication that Brie Larson's Captain Marvel will play a role in Avengers 4.

The man who is bringing Thanos to life (in order for the character to kill all of humanity) recently spoke about his experience working on the fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers franchise. In doing so, he let slip a small detail that will set Carol Danvers fans buzzing.

"I thought, 'What the [frick] am I doing here?' Because you're in a onesie, man. You've got to walk around in a onesie and imagine yourself as an actor with some impact. It starts messing with your head. I'm Josh, who's got dots on him, and a onesie, and a helmet can, and I've got Scarlett right there, and I've got Brie, and Don Cheadle, and Hemsworth, and Chris Evans, and Downey..." Brolin told Total Film Magazine of his time working on Avengers 4. "I'm sitting there and I'm looking like I look, which is not 700lb and purple and eight feet tall. I mean, I'm feeling about as far from Jason Statham as one can feel at that moment, and yet I'm acting like I feel 10 times what Jason Statham is. I'm the man!"

It's not news that Larson's character will be part of Avengers 4, of course; the first photos of her in the Captain Marvel costume were purportedly from the set of the sequel, and her involvement in the film's storyline has been something of an open secret for quite a while. The hero was even initially pegged for an Infinity War debut, and scenes were actually filmed when that was the plan.

However, the level of secrecy surrounding Marvel Studios' films in general, and the Avengers sequels specifically, means that nothing is set in stone. Even Brolin's comments don't mean she'll actually appear in Avengers 4, just that she was apparently involved in some sort of ensemble scene that may or may not make the final cut.

The fourth Avengers film is set to be released on May 3, 2019, but beyond the general cast, nothing is known about the plot, the villains or even the name of the film.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell and Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva. The film is targeted for release on March 8, 2019.
