New photos emerging from the set of Avengers 4 seem to confirm rumors that Hawkeye will adopt a new identity in the Marvel Studios sequel: Ronin.RELATED: Rumor: Hawkeye Assumes New Identity in Avengers 4The images depict actor Jeremy Renner wearing a long black coat that covers the majority of his body. However, as he walks the coat opens to reveal black boots with a gold trim, which match up with his Ronin identity from the comics, where Barton traded his signature bow and arrows for twin katanas in the fallout from Civil War in order to keep his identity a secret.

Earlier photos of Renner sporting a shorter haircut and an arm tattoo ignited speculation that his character would adopt the new identity in the wake of Avengers: Infinity War. Now these latest images appear to show that is indeed the case.

Avengers 4 is expected to hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
