The latest Assassin's Creed TV spot has arrived, and while short --it clocks in at just 30 seconds -- it does effectively spotlight some of the film's sizzling action sequences.

Fans of the video game series will recognize a few key signature moves, most notably the retractable blades in the assassin's sleeves, and the iconic dives off tall buildings into haystacks below.

The complex sci-fi and conspiracy elements are kept relatively simple. All audiences who are unfamiliar with the adventures of Altair, Ezio and all the rest need to know is that a modern-day man, played by Michael Fassbender, is sent back into the body of his assassin ancestor Aguilar (also played by Fassbender) in 15th century Spain at the time of the Inquisition.

But in many ways the biggest question is not so much whether the film will be accessible and able to attract a wider audience, but whether it's slick moves will enable it to assassinate, or at the very least hold its own against, its main box office rival – "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," which is set for release just one week before "Assassin's Creed" hits our cinema screens.
