A special promo video for The CW's superhero shows enlists a whole host of characters, including the latest addition to the network: Black Lightning.

The video -- an expanded version of a shorter promo released last week -- shows characters from the Arrowverse shows ArrowThe FlashSupergirl, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow getting ready for battle in their iconic costumes, leading up to a surprise appearance from Black Lightning (who wasn't in the originally released spot). Curiously, it was just this past Sunday that it was confirmed that this brand-new series would exist outside of the Arrowverse -- to start with, at least.

“I say this with all due respect, but they’re not really relevant to the show that we’re doing. The great thing that Warner Bros. and CW allowed us to do was create our own world," Black Lightning executive producer Salim Akil said during The CW's winter press tour panel (as related via The Wrap). "We really wanted folk to get to know this family before we started branching out."

Black Lightning was first developed in 2016 with Fox in mind as a home, acting as a standalone show much like Gotham or Lucifer. The CW ended up being the destination for the series, and fans know that stranger things have happened: Supergirl, who exists on another Earth to the rest of the heroes, was brought into the main continuity when the show made the jump from CBS to The CW. Perhaps this video is teasing the same thing could happen one day? Viewers will have to wait and see.

Debuting Tuesday, Jan. 16, Black Lightning stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, China Anne McClain as his younger daughter Jennifer Pierce, Nafessa Williams as his older daughter Anissa Pierce, Christine Adams as Lynn Pierce, James Remar as Peter Gambi, Damon Gupton as Henderson, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale and Chantal Thuy as Grace Choi.
