Longtime Batman villain Talia al Ghul is heading to "Arrow." Though fans have seen her sister Nyssa al Ghul pop up over the past five seasons, this will be the character's first time appearing on the show, but executive producer Marc Guggenheim promises she won't be exactly like her sister.

“She’s definitely her own person; she’s not a Nyssa clone, by any stretch," Guggenheim explained to Entertainment Weekly. "You can definitely sense a familial resemblance. Having Ra’s al Ghul as your dad, it’s likely to forge a very specific kind of person. They’re close enough and different enough that I would love, at some point, to do a story with Nyssa and Talia.”

“We’ll also be dealing very directly with the fairly obvious question, which is: Wait a second, when Oliver met Ra’s al Ghul, why didn’t he say, ‘Hey, wait a minute, I think I met your daughter back in Russia!'” he added.

Talia will arrive in "Second Chances," the "Arrow" episode airing February 1, though it seems as though she'll only appear in the flashbacks in this particular episode. According to the official episode synopsis,

TALIA AL GHUL TAKES OLIVER UNDER HER WING — In his quest to take down Kovar, Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets help from a surprising source – Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig). However, when she reveals what she wants from him in exchange, Oliver isn’t sure he can accept her help. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) attempts to hack the NSA to help free Diggle (David Ramsey) but when her online efforts are flagged, she faces off against an unknown adversary. Meanwhile, Curtis (Echo Kellum) tells the team about a female vigilante, Tina Boland (guest star Juliana Harkavay), he uncovered online who has been wreaking havoc all over the country.

“Arrow” won’t be Talia’s first “Arrow”-verse debut. After all, she appeared on “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” albeit as a child. The time travelling team met Talia in the ’50s, after Sara, Ray Palmer and Kendra Saunders were stranded there by the Waverider for two years. However, “Arrow’s” Talia will be a full grown adult played by “The 4400’s” Lexa Doig.

The better-known daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, Talia al Ghul debuted in “Detective Comics” #411 in 1971. She initially served as a love interest for Batman, with most of her villainous acts coming at the request of her father Ra’s al Ghul. She’s been trained by the League of Assassins and is a deadly hand-to-hand combatant and is also skilled in the use of numerous weapons. More recently, Talia has become an adversary of Batman in her own right.

Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer, “Arrow” airs at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, John Barrowman, Willa Holland and more. “Arrow’s” fifth season returns to the CW on January 25.
