Oliver Queen calls on the help of an old friend, Christopher Chance, in the synopsis for the Nov. 2 episode of “Arrow,” appropriately titled “Human Target.”
Played by “Jessica Jones” actor Wil Traval, Christopher Chance is a DC Comics character with a history that dates back to 1972. Created by Len Wein and Carmine Infantino, the Human Target is a private investigator and bodyguard who assumes the identities of clients marked for assassination or other crimes.
On the upcoming “Arrow” episode, Chance’s expertise is required when Tobias Church (Chad L.Coleman) captures one of Team Arrow’s new recruits. Here’s the official description:
DC COMICS’ CHRISTOPHER CHANCE AKA HUMAN TARGET TEAMS UP WITH OLIVER — When Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman) captures and tortures one of Oliver’s new recruits, Oliver must turn to an old friend, Christopher Chance (guest star Wil Traval) AKA the Human Target, for help. Meanwhile, Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) worlds collide when Detective Malone (guest star Tyler Ritter) joins the ACU. Laura Belsey directed the episode written by Oscar Balderrama & Sarah Tarkoff (#505).
This won’t the first time the Human Target has appeared on live-action television. Rick Springfield starred as Christopher Chance on a short-lived action drama that aired in 1992 on ABC. That was followed in 2011 by a Fox adaptation starring Mark Valley, Chi McBride, Jackie Earle Haley and Indira Varma.
Starring Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Echo Kellum and Paul Blackthorne, “Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
