The lineup, unveiled this morning ahead of the network's upfront presentation in New York City, sees Riverdale slide from Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT into Arrow's time slot on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT, serving as lead-in to the reimagining of the 1980s primetime soap opera Dynasty. The sixth season of Arrow will unfold Thursdays at 8 p.m., followed at 9 p.m. by the 13th season of Supernatural.

The new DC Comics-inspired superhero drama Black Lightning will join returning series iZombie, The 100 and The Originals as part of The CW's midseason lineup. Returning Arrowverse series Supergirl, The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow will remain in their current nights and times.

Riverdale's move, both from midseason to the fall and to Wednesday's at 8 p.m., would seem to indicate The CW's confidence in the dark take on the Archie Comics characters, which in its sophomore outing will see the shooting of Fred Andrews threaten "to plunge the entire town into utter darkness."
