SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for tonight’s episode of “Arrow,” “Blood Debts,” which has not yet aired on the west coast at the time of publication.
“Arrow” ended 2015 with the fate of fan-favorite character Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) uncertain, after she was shot multiple times by Damien Darhk’s soldiers. Not that there’s any good time for that to happen, but the attack occurred shortly after Oliver (Stephen Amell) proposed to Felicity.
Tonight’s “Arrow” episode, “Blood Debts,” makes it clear early on that Felicity is still alive — but the shooting looks to have major repercussions. As set photos that surfaced online earlier this month indicated, Felicity’s injuries have left her with a dire diagnosis — as Felicity’s mother, Donna (Charlotte Ross) says, “They can’t fix her. She’s never going to walk again.”
Though it remains to be seen if that’s indeed the case, one thing has been ruled out — it wasn’t Felicity’s death that Oliver and Barry (Grant Gustin are mourning in the flash-forward that started “Arrow” season four last fall. “Blood Debts” opens back at that scene, now four months in the future — putting it, in real time, around this year’s “Arrow” season finale — with Oliver and Barry again at the gravesite, and Oliver stating his intention to kill Damien Darhk. The episode ends back at the graveyard four months in the future, with Oliver entering a car and Felicity inside — offering the advice “you have to kill this son of a bitch.” So while one suspect has been ruled out, the question of just who is in that grave remains.
