Richard Dragon is coming to Star City, with veteran actor Kirk Acevedo bringing the DC Comics bad guy to life.

The character's Arrow arrival was announced during Comic-Con International in San Diego, though the actor filling the role was kept a secret. Today, The CW revealed that Acevedo, well-known to television audiences from his time on Fringe, Oz and Kingdom, will bring Richard Dragon (aka Ricardo Diaz) to the Arrowverse.

"A hardened ex-con recently released from prison for crimes he didn’t commit, Ricardo Diaz (Acevedo) is bent on taking over Star City’s criminal underworld," the character's official breakdown reads. "A master in hand to hand combat, honed by years of life on the street, Diaz has yet to meet a foe he can’t take down." The villain is slated to be a regular throughout the series' sixth season.

In the comics, Richard Dragon is considered one of top martial artists in the DC Universe, having gone toe-to-toe with the likes of Batman and Lady Shiva. He also trained several heroes, including the Question, Huntress and the wheelchair-bound Oracle (Barbara Gordon). When the DC Universe was overhauled in 2011 as the New 52, Dragon was re-introduced as Ricardo Diaz, Jr. This version was far less altruistic than his pre-flashpoint counterpart, and appears to be the incarnation Arrow will be looking to for inspiration.

Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer, Arrow returns Thursday, October 12 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland and more.
