A new extended trailer for "Arrow's" mid-season premiere wants you to question everything you think you know about the show. The trailer revolves around Laurel's mysterious return, but the music and violence make it seem as though her presence isn't as miraculous as Oliver wants to believe it is.

The trailer offers a few clues about how Laurel came back from the dead. For one, Laurel tells Oliver she was "saved." Then, Oliver attempts to explain time travel to Rene Ramirez, aka Wild Dog, which suggests that Laurel chalked her return up to that; it's possible she uses her sister Sara as an excuse, as Sara is off travelling through time with the Legends of Tomorrow. Finally, Curtis ducks away from a sonic blast that utterly destroys Star City's Black Canary memorial; the effect is similar to the one used by Earth-2's evil version of Laurel Lance, who is a metahuman and goes by the name Black Siren.

Additionally, the trailer peppers in some of the other elements of Season 5, including Oliver's struggle with Prometheus. "Prometheus has proven to me that I will destroy myself and everyone close to me," Oliver laments, possibly in reference to Billy Malone's death in the mid-season finale.

According to the official episode synopsis,

TALIA AL GHUL TAKES OLIVER UNDER HER WING — In his quest to take down Kovar, Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets help from a surprising source – Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig). However, when she reveals what she wants from him in exchange, Oliver isn’t sure he can accept her help. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) attempts to hack the NSA to help free Diggle (David Ramsey) but when her online efforts are flagged, she faces off against an unknown adversary. Meanwhile, Curtis (Echo Kellum) tells the team about a female vigilante, Tina Boland (guest star Juliana Harkavay), he uncovered online who has been wreaking havoc all over the country.
