Although Netflix initially indicated the revived Arrested Development would have just a one-season run -- "Arrested is a unique property, we don’t anticipate being able to do season five, six and seven," -- renewal talks have begun between the streaming service and producer Imagine Entertainment.

"We are in conversations with them to do another," Imagine Co-Chairman Brian Grazer told Bloomberg News on Thursday. "They are interested in doing that."

According to Variety, "sources close to the situation" underscore that there are no active negotiations between Netflix and 20th Century Fox, "but both sides expect a renewal to come together eventually given the success of the 15-episode revival." A Netflix representative added that the company is "interested in doing another season of Arrested Development if it is logistically possible.”

"Logistically possible" is the key phrase, one that echoes comments made by Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer, as the new episodes debuted and the company openly embraced the idea of a fifth season. Most of Arrested Development's key players are signed to film and television projects, making it difficult for them to break away for shooting.

"They were all working full-time and doing this show in between, and they did it for the love of the show and for Mitch Hurwitz, Sarandos told The Hollywood Reporter in May. "If we can muster up that love again, we’d love to do it again. And we have talked openly about a movie scenario, too."

If a deal is reached, Variety reports the earliest a fifth season could be shot is next summer.
