Okay, so making a movie out've old toy Stretch Armstrong was an odd idea in the first place, but at least getting Twilight's Taylor Lautner to sign on as the titular lead seemed like they were taking the whole thing seriously. If only the same thing could be said about the choice of writer and director.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Universal Pictures has hired Nick Stoller to rewrite the original script, and Rob Letterman to direct. Stoller's credits include scripting Get Him To The Greek, the spin-off movie to Forgetting Sarah Marshall (He directed both), as well as Jim Carrey flop Yes Man and Jason Segal's upcoming Muppets movie, while Letterman is best know for directing last year's Monsters Vs. Aliens. I think it's safe to say that we can expect the new movie to be a special effects-laden comedy at this point. Now all Universal has to wonder about is whether teen heartthrob Lautner will still make hearts flutter in a long blond wig?
