A new featurette for the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie Aquaman showcases interviews with the cast, behind-the-scenes footage and a stunning new glimpse at the film.

The featurette centers on interviews with director James Wan and cast members including Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Amber Heard (Mera), Nicole Kidman (Queen Atlanna), Patrick Wilson (Orm), Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta) and Michael Beach (Jesse Kane).

The cast speaks about their aspirations for the movie, what they loved about its story and the process of making the film.

Wan starts the featurette by speaking to the need for an audience to care about a movie's characters and then explains that Aquaman is relatable because "what drives him comes from a very human place."

Momoa himself explains that he related to the story because of the way Aquaman is caught between two worlds, something he could identify with.

And of her character, Heard says she was drawn to the part because Mera is "no damsel in distress"

The cast also discusses one of the most unique parts of Aquaman -- it's the first superhero movie to be set under the ocean. Wan said that the movie will feature "a whole different world that we've never seen before." While Momoa points out that, "We haven't been under the ocean yet. This is our outer space." And Wilson points out that one of the driving forces of the movie revolves around what would happen if the ocean, a place people are fascinated by, suddenly "turned on you."

Wan has the last word in the video, speaking about the impact he hopes his film has on its audience: "Any great superhero story should make you fell that you've learned something from these characters and you yourself have the ability to do good. And you don't need a cape to be able to do that."

Throughout the featurette, we're treated to some amazing footage from both behind the scenes and the movie itself. Often snippets of crew members prepping sets or raw footage of the film's vehicles is juxtaposed with the parts of the movie in which they appear.

The featurette shows scenes from Aquaman of Momoa running on the beach and standing under a waterfall, of Black Manta performing in costume and the forging of a trident. It also spotlights the movie's many, many fight scenes and the water that accompanies all the action.

Behind-the-scenes footage includes Heard "swimming" in a harness, a boat on stilts and quick shots of the actors performing their fight choreography. Towards the end, there's a quick glimpse of Momoa in a harness leaping out of the ocean.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna.
