Director Antoine Fuqua has reportedly teamed with producer Jerry Bruckheimer for a television series based on his 2001 crime thriller "Training Day."

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. TV is shopping the pitch to the broadcast networks. Fuqua would executive produce the project and direct the pilot, written by Will Beall ("Castle," "Gangster Squad").

Starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, the film follows a highly decorated but corrupt LAPD narcotics detective and a rookie cop over a 24-hour training period. Written by David Ayer, "Training Day" garnered Oscar nominations for both actors.

Deadline contends the TV adaptation would focus on the relationship between the two officers in a contemporary setting (and possibly switch up the races of the characters).
