Ever since the release of "Man of Steel" in 2013, some fans have voiced concerns about the dark tone of the fledgling DC Extended Universe, an apprehension that only grew with the addition of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad." However, it's not only DC fans who have opinions about the films.

Appearing this weekend at Emerald City Comicon to promote her children's book series "The Squickerwonkers," "Ant-Man and the Wasp" star Evangeline Lilly spoke briefly about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2015's "Ant-Man." Acknowledging she initially didn't know about the Marvel Studios films, the actress took a jab at Warner Bros.' DC Comics slate, noting that, unlike its rival, Marvel focused on superheroes who "don’t take themselves too seriously.”

Lilly is rarely one to mince words; she revealed in 2014 that she nearly left "Ant-Man" following the abrupt departure of director Edgar Wright. Still, her comments about DC appear to be a playful jab.

Pre-production is under way on "Ant-Man and the Wasp," with filming expected to take place this summer. Directed by Peyton Reed, the sequel also stars returning actors Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Michael Pena. The film arrives July 6, 2018.
