"Ant-Man" is proving that it really is the little Marvel movie that could. After earning back all of its $130 million budget in domestic theaters, the film is now enjoying a blockbuster run in China's theaters. As reported over at The Wrap, the film earned another $22 million in its second weekend in China. The film scored the second-biggest Disney/Marvel debut in China when it opened last week. The film scored $43 million during its opening weekend overseas, coming in second only to "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

To date, the film's earned $179 million domestically. "Ant-Man's" proven it has legs -- six of'em -- overseas, where it's now earned $314.8 million. Compared to the other Marvel movies, that puts the film's haul ahead of "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "The Incredible Hulk" domestically and ahead of those two and "Thor" worldwide. Considering that the film had the lowest production budget of any Marvel movie with $130 million, a $500 million worldwide gross can be viewed as a big success.

It's possible that the film's success overseas contributed to the greenlighting of a sequel, "Ant-Man and the Wasp." The follow-up is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6, 2018 and "Ant-Man" director Peyton Reed is rumored to be "in negotiations" to return for the sequel.
