Villains are perhaps the most interesting characters to dissect and analyze. There are many types of villains to be found throughout anime. One of the most common archetypes is the nihilist. These villains see no purpose in existence and often commit atrocities out of pure boredom.

These villains are terrifying because not only do they disregard the lives of everybody else, but they also do not care about their own lives. They believe that there is no point in creation if everybody dies in the end; that everything is inherently pointless. These types of villains have nothing left to lose.

Hisoka sees no issue in killing people who do not fit his ideals. He deems people "unworthy" indiscriminately. Given that he lacks morality and only lives to serve his bloodlust, Hisoka has nothing to lose by committing such heinous acts.

Perhaps Moonfish is a perfect example of the harsh realities of living in a society where the possibilities for quirks are endless. Regardless, Moonfish is a villain who has absolutely nothing left to lose as a result of his criminal acts and cannibalism.

8 Yamori Is Merciless And Sadistic

Yamori from Tokyo Ghoul, otherwise known as Jason, is a lifelong criminal who was tortured to the point of going mad. Consequently, Yamori continued this cycle of sadism and violence, as shown when he brutally tortured Kaneki in the same way.

Yamori is arrogant and violent in his interrogations and became notorious for forcing other ghouls to endure brutal torture sessions. Yamori clearly has nothing to lose, especially considering that he has a carefree attitude about committing such heinous acts.

7 Acnologia Already Lost Everything

Acnologia from Fairy Tail was a kind person who wanted to protect everybody before his hometown was destroyed. It was destroyed because of the dragon who swore to protect it. Consequently, the psychological effects of this took him down a path of bloodlust and nihilism.

He murdered all of the dragons he came across as soon as he had the power. He even slaughtered those who he considered allies. Acnologia wants retribution for what he lost, so he commits such atrocities because he has nothing left to lose anymore.

Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen believes that humans are inferior, stating that he was manifested solely because of humans' vitriol towards each other. He thinks humans should go extinct, leaving the cursed spirits to rule the world instead.

One of Mahito's hobbies is experimenting with humans using his Idle Transfiguration technique. He often plays around with it, trying to see how small he can make a human or how large he can make one. Perhaps what's so terrifying about Mahito is his immaturity, as he appears nonchalant while he talks about these unethical experiments. Additionally, he doesn't seem to care much about his own life either.

5 Himiko Thinks She Can Destroy Anything She Doesn't Like

Himiko Toga from My Hero Academia is a yandere who wants to kill the people she admires. Himiko also believes that she can kill anything she doesn't like. Because of her quirk, she drinks the blood of others to turn into them.

As a child, she would often devour other humans and even animals. Additionally, Himiko may genuinely want to form connections with people, but it's impossible for her because of her warped perspective on reality. Because of this, she wishes to destroy society entirely to make a new one where she'll be accepted.

4 Gyutaro Doesn't Regret Becoming A Demon

Due to the way he was raised, Gyutaro from Demon Slayer became cynical and misanthropic. He was born into poverty, and his mother was abusive- she even tried killing him before he was born. Gyutaro became the target of bullying due to his appearance.

Because of these experiences, Gyutaro believes that it's only just if he takes away from people who have a better life than him. He expresses gratitude for being turned into a demon and has no regrets about it. Gyutaro only cares about his sister, Daki — but he will even berate her for being stupid and making mistakes.

3 Twice Lost Everything Before Joining The League Of Villains

Twice from My Hero Academia, otherwise known as Jin Bubaigawara, deals with many psychological problems due to the havoc his quirk has wreaked on his life. Additionally, before joining the League of Villains, he appeared to be a decent person.

However, he accidentally killed someone with his motorcycle, giving him a criminal record. Then, he lost his job and got evicted. Everything took a downward spiral from here, as Twice began committing crimes to survive. Perhaps the tragedy of Twice's character is that he could have gotten on the right path again, but because of his psychological issues from his quirk, he chose a different direction.

2 Yoshihiro Kira Is Already Dead

Yoshihiro Kira from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable is the father of Yoshikage Kira. He is also dead. Despite being a ghost, he assists his son in his evil bidding.

Yoshihiro is the one who attacks the Joestar group the most often and uses the Stand Arrow to create new stand users in order to protect Yoshikage. The only thing Yoshihiro cares about is protecting his son. He doesn't really have anything else left to lose — the guy's already dead!

The Eight Bullets from My Hero Academia are a bunch of Yakuza who assist Shie Hassaikai. These eight men have lost the will to live, as well as their self-respect and dignity. The group consists of con-men, hardened criminals, and insane individuals.

They all grew nihilistic because of the way society discarded them due to their quirks, but they found solidarity amongst each other. Each of these eight men don't fear throwing their own lives away for Shie Hassaikai, because otherwise, they have nothing to live for.
