WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for Turkey Day 2020 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

On Thursday, Nov. 26, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can celebrate Turkey Day, which is the Nintendo game's equivalent to American Thanksgiving. Returning NPC Franklin the turkey will prepare an elaborate feast for players and their villagers, but to complete his menu, he'll require ingredients -- which is where players come in.

Although it's not possible to time travel to Turkey Day ahead of the event, players can start stocking up on ingredients for Franklin's big feast. Here's what he'll require, as well as which prizes he'll reward based on task completion.

Turkey Day Recipes & Ingredients

A player brings Franklin ingredients on Turkey Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Players who have unlocked the upgraded Resident Services building and downloaded the winter update will find Franklin in the plaza starting at 9 a.m. on Nov. 26. When they speak to him, he'll ask that they acquire ingredients for four different dishes: Clam Chowder, Pumpkin Pie, Gratin and Fish Meunière. Each one has a recipe, but there are also secret ingredients. Players can determine these by trading fish with villagers who are inside their homes.

When players have retrieved the necessary ingredients, they need to talk to Franklin again and help him cook each dish in order to receive Turkey Day DIY recipes and special items. If they bring him the secret ingredients as well, they'll get extra rewards.

To make Franklin's award-winning Clam Chowder, players need to acquire -- at minimum -- three manila clams. These can be dug up with a shovel on any beach; to spot them, look for small spurts of air in the sand. The secret ingredient is a scallop, which can be acquired by diving. If Pascal pops up and asks for a scallop, don't fret -- he only asks for one per day, so players can either trade him and keep searching, or simply say no. (If they say no, they may miss out on a mermaid item or pearl.)

Franklin's Pumpkin Pie recipe requires one orange pumpkin and one other randomly-colored pumpkin -- green, yellow, or white. Pumpkin starters could only be purchased at Nook's Cranny or Leif's plant stand during the month of October, so if players don't have any pumpkins on their island, they may want to talk to friends and trade! The secret ingredients for this recipe are the two other pumpkin colors that weren't initially requested.

New Horizons players will have different required ingredients for the Gratin recipe depending on if their island is in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. Northern Hemisphere players will need one mussel and one oyster, which can be acquired by diving, as well as one random mushroom -- flat, round, or skinny. Southern Hemisphere players will need one squid, which can be caught with a fishing pole, and one sea urchin, which can be acquired by diving. The secret ingredient for both hemispheres is a dungeness crab, which can also be acquired by diving.

Likewise, Northern and Southern Hemisphere players have different ingredient lists for the Fish Meunière. Northern Hemisphere players need a sea bass and either a dab, olive flounder, or red snapper, all of which can be caught with a fishing pole. Southern Hemisphere players need a sea bass and either an olive flounder or a red snapper. The secret ingredient to this recipe for both hemispheres is a barred knifejaw.

Turkey Day Prizes

Players celebrate Turkey Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

For helping Franklin prepare and cook the Turkey Day feast, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will earn a bevy of themed furniture items and DIYs. Completing each recipe will unlock a different furniture item and enhancing all four with the secret ingredients will reward players with the complete set of Turkey Day DIY recipes. There are eight in all, but rather than receiving individual cards, players will have the recipes downloaded straight to their NookPhones.

For cooking the Clam Chowder, Franklin will reward the Turkey Day Rug. For cooking the Pumpkin Pie, Franklin will reward the Turkey Day Wall. Cooking the Gratin earns the Turkey Day Floor and finally, cooking the Fish Meunière will earn players a Cornucopia. These festive items are great for fall decor or year-round, depending on a player's style.
