Between utilizing his motion-capture talents to play Caesar in War for the Planet of the Apes and reprising his role as Ulysses Klaue in February in Marvel's Black Panther, Andy Serkis is about to have a pretty good year. But while promoting Apes, the actor took a moment to pay tribute to his breakout role in The Lord of the Rings.

Appearing Tuesday on Late Night with Stephen Colbert, Serkis revisited his beloved performance as Gollum, but instead of cursing "tricksy" hobbits and obsessing over the One Ring, he recited some of President Donald Trump's tweets. His new twist no "trolling" begins at about the 3:35 mark in the video below.

To be fair, despite all the talk about "phony media" and "fake news," some of Trump's tweets don't sound too out of place coming from Smeagol's mouth. Political satire aside, the clip also shows an extremely interesting behind-the-scenes look at Serkis' performance in Apes before and after CGI.
