FX has released featurette that pulls back the curtain -- just a little -- on "American Horror Story: Hotel," and debuts new footage from the upcoming fifth season of the hit anthology series.

"It's not really like any hotel you've ever seen," Kathy Bates says, with Matt Bomer adding, "It's sort of this hotbed of evil activity." A costumed Denis O'Hare goes so far as to call the mysterious Hotel Cortez "a living, breathing beast."

Premiering Oct. 7, "American Horror Story: Hotel" also stars Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny, Cheyenne Jackson, Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock.
