SPOILER ALERT: The following article contains spoilers for the "Arrow" midseason finale, "The Climb."

Fan reaction to the "Arrow" midseason finale, "The Climb," has been incredibly passionate -- and for good reason. At the end of the episode, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was stabbed by Ra's Al Ghul and tumbled over a cliff, seemingly to his death. Certainly, Amell didn't help fans' immediate reaction of grief by his one-sentence reaction on Twitter following the episode's conclusion.

It was a good run.- Stephen Amell (@amellywood) December 11, 2014

The "Arrow" star continued fanning the fires today on Facebook, posting a photograph of himself with a message for the many "Arrow" fans on the social network.

Facebook. Thank you so much for the enthusiasm spilling out of tonight's fall finale. I've never had anywhere near this amount of feedback. And by feedback, I mostly mean swear words. There were an awful lot of expletives.

Seriously though: Despite the title, our show is bigger than any one character. We're going to prove that to you.

Sit tight... January will be here in no time.

Amell's comments imply that Oliver Queen may not be back when "Arrow" continues its third season January 21 -- but it's unlikely he's gone forever. The character has certainly been presumed dead before in the show, and Amell's use of the pronoun "we" suggests that he'll still be involved.

Regardless, fans will just have to wait until "Arrow" returns in January to find out more.
