In anticipation of the new TV series, AMC and DC are set to give away 100,000 free copies of the original "Preacher" #1 by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. The latest print of the issue will feature a new cover by Dillon, with the characters modelled after the series' actors.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the free new edition of "Preacher" #1 will be available May 18 in stores, and digitally on May 13.

Developed for television by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Sam Catlin, "Preacher" stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Jesse's ex-girlfriend Tulip, Joseph Gilgun as his vampire friend Cassidy, Ian Colletti as Arseface and Lucy Griffiths as Emily, a character created for the TV show.

Based on the twisted and popular '90s comic book franchise of the same name, "Preacher," created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.

"Preacher" premieres Sunday, May 22, on AMC.
