THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
Star Andrew Garfield spoke with E! Online about the film:
Release date: May 28th, 2012
“Drive” director Nicolas Winding Refn may have the solution to the getting a “Wonder Woman” movie made: cast Christina Hendricks. “If I ever get to do it, she’s going to be it,” he tells New York Magazine’s Vulture. While I’d still like to hear how Refn will solve the third act problem, his casting choice definitely solves the “How do we get boys to see this?” problem.
Release date: TBA
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
One of the lads at Comic Book Movie notes a press release for the film’s Upper Deck trading card range. Of particular interest is this image from the set showing the Howling Commandos together:
Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011
Creator Mike Mignola tells The Daily Blam! some sad news about “Hellboy” film director Guillermo del Toro. “Last I heard, he said ‘I’m never gonna get back to Hellboy.’ I’m not surprised because he won’t live long enough to do a tenth of the movies he’s told me he’s going to make,” says Mignola. Del Toro is an in-demand talent and with star Ron Perlman getting on in years and finally getting some recognition for a role that requires no prosthetics, the time for another “Hellboy” outing has past …
So get ready for “Hellboy Begins” in a few years.
Release date: TBA
SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK
Star Reeve Carney talks with MTV News about the show, the changes, and staying focused in a media circus:
Opened: June 14th, 2011 … at last!
According to Deadline, David S. Goyer will write and produce Showtime’s adaptation of the Brian Azzarello/Eduardo Risso comic book series. “While lauded as one of the best comic books/graphic novels of the past decade ‘100 Bullets’ is an atypical comic as it features no superheroes, magic, supernatural elements or a sci-fi twist,” writes Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva, revealing once again that the bias against the medium still exists. Hopefully, Goyer will do a good adaptation and create a demand for the thousands of comic books that are “atypical.”
Spinoff Online reports that actress Lucy Punch has been cast as Deena Pilgrim in the pilot. You might remember her as Eve Draper in “Hot Fuzz.” She lost her head in that movie. Actor Kyle Chandler is presumably still in talks to play Walker.
THE WALKING DEAD
The official AMC blog has some video from the first day of production on Season 2:
Airs: Fall 2011
DOCTOR IN TIGHTS
Stretching his acting chops, current “Doctor Who” star Matt Smith took on the cape and cowl of Batman for a sketch called “Gotham Autopsy” at a showcase in Santa Monica, California recently. Of course, The Telegraph has the embarrassing photo:
I could make a joke, but Smith has to live with this picture chasing him around talk shows for the rest of his life, so I’ll leave him be. Hopefully, wearing the tights in the name of acting will translate into more lucrative roles when he’s ready to regenerate off of “Doctor Who.” Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know!
