Amazing Spider-Man Site Teases Details for ‘Different Side’ of Story

Sony Pictures has launched its full website for The Amazing Spider-Man, which touts director Marc Webb’s franchise reboot as “the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.”

The site, which features new images and brief biographies of Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans’ Curt Connors and Denis Leary’s George Stacy, plays up the mystery surrounding the mysterious disappearance 13years earlier of Peter’s parents — played by Campbell Scott and Embeth Davidtz (who replaced Julianne Nicholson).

The film is characterized as a journey of self-discovery, as Peter “uncovers a secret that his father held … a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man.” The accompanying image in the site’s story section includes what appears to be an old photo of Richard Parker and Curt Connors (see the screenshot below).

The Amazing Spider-Man, which opens July 3, also stars Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Chris Zylka, C. Thomas Howell and Annie Parisse.
