Just a few weeks before the film's official release, a new trailer for Alita: Battle Angel premiered during Super Bowl LIII.Director Robert Rodriguez's film follows Rosa Salizar's Alita, an amnesiac cyborg who explores a cyberpunk world as she figures out her mysterious past and her place in this futuristic landscape. While the film has received fairly mixed early reviews, Alita: Battle Angel is currently on track for a disappointing run at the box office. The film, which will likely be one of 20 Century Fox's last big-budget releases before the studio is officially absorbed into Disney, went through a decades-long development cycle, where it was largely shepherded by producer James Cameron.

The film is based on Yukito Kishiro's iconic manga Battle Angel Alita and is loosely based on the first four volumes of the series. Since it started in 1990, the series has spawned several spin-offs and sequels.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez, Alita: Battle Angel stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley, Keean Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Lana Condor and Eliza González. The film is set to be released on Feb. 14.
