One of the great unanswered questions hanging over "Aliens Covenant" is what happened to Doctor Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender) after the end of Prometheus.

Now, the official "Aliens Covenant" Twitter account has posted a new prologue short entitled "The Crossing," that sheds a little light on what happened in the decade after "Prometheus" as Shaw and David piloted the Engineer's vessel back to their home world.

Released to coincide with Aliens Day (April 26, timed in honor of LV426, planet featured in the first two "Aliens" films) the short is told from David's perspective and depicts how he was repaired by Shaw and how the pair then together planned their journey to the Engineer's home world. Because of the great distance involved Shaw entered into hypersleep for much of the journey with David promising to wake her up when they got there.

However, given a decade alone, it appears David came up with a plan of his own, and didn't wake Shaw on arrival as promised....
