Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Alfre Woodward will star alongside Mike Colter in Marvel's "Luke Cage" as Minetta, who will be a lead character in the series.

According to Deadline, Woodward's character Minetta is "a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage's life." Though no further details have been provided about the role, the announcement speculates that Woodward's character will be Black Mariah. A frequent antagonist for both Cage and Iron Fist in the comics, Black Mariah is described as both a professional criminal and a drug dealer.

Woodward's past credits include "State of Affairs," "12 Years a Slave," "True Blood" and "Black Panther," an animated miniseries based on the Marvel Comics hero of the same name.

Colter will play series lead Luke Cage in the thirteen-episode show. Colter will make his debut as the character in "Jessica Jones," another Netflix/Marvel series scheduled to debut later this fall.

Executive produced by Cheo Hodari Coker and produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios, "Luke Cage" is scheduled to premiere on Netflix at an unspecified date in 2016.
