Legendary comic book artist Alex Ross has created some tremendously iconic art since the 90s, resulting in the artist receiving several Eisner and Harvey awards. While it takes Ross a lot of time to produce his art, he regularly does comic book covers. In 2014, the artist did a variant cover for Brian Michael Bendis and Ed McGuiness’ “Guardians of the Galaxy” #18, which is now being re-released as a limited-edition lithograph through Sideshow Collectibles.
Limited to 250 pieces worldwide, the hand-signed lithograph features Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket and Drax. In conjunction with the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” framed versions of the lithograph will be available for pre-order on May 5 between 9 AM and Noon (Pacific Time). The unframed version will be available on May 8 between 9 AM and 3PM. Neither Ross’ nor Sideshow’s site mention the price.
The plot of “Guardians of the Galaxy” #18 dealt with Star-Lord’s return from the Cancerverse and was linked to the “Original Sin” event, which saw Nick Fury and the Avengers investigating the murder of Uatu the Watcher.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Glenn Close as Irani Rael and Kurt Russell as Ego.
