Legendary painter Alex Ross

has used his unique style to illustrate a plethora of iconic comic books. Ross has worked for both DC Comics and Marvel over the years, and continues to put out jaw-dropping works to this day. Now, Ross melds two very different worlds for a crossover we're probably not going to see unfold any time soon -- an interpretation of a battle between Boba Fett and Batman that would be a jewel in the crown of any comic book art collector.

In the painting, the two are locked in a close quarters struggle. It appears as if Batman has pounced on Boba Fett from above, planting a foot right in the bounty hunter's chest, and grasping at his collar with his right hand. He has a Batarang at the ready, but Fett uses his blaster to parry it, and has also engaged his jetpack. Perhaps he seeks to take the fight to higher ground?

It's anyone's guess as to who has the upper hand, but really, is that important? What matter is how impressive this painting is. With the minimal color palette and complete lack of a background, it conveys the look of a masterpiece, and like many of Ross' works, it's reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell piece. So much so, in fact, that this one was featured in an exhibit at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Ross regularly exhibits his paintings, and his works will be making an appearance at New York Comic Con, October 6-9, 2016.
