SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "The Laws of Inferno Dynamics," the mid-season finale of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

While S.H.I.E.L.D. has been focused on Ghost Rider and the threat posed by Eli Morrow, AIDA the Life Model Decoy has been hard at work. As it turns out in "The Laws of Inferno Dynamics," the mid-season finale of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", she's been busy taking care of Agent Melinda May -- because AIDA has replaced her with a replica LMD.

As seen in the final scene of "The Laws of Inferno Dynamics," AIDA has been keeping the real agent May in her stasis chamber. An unfortunate S.H.I.E.L.D. agent makes this discovery, and he pays the price for it when AIDA catches him in the act. With an apology, AIDA snaps his neck in order for May to remain secret. AIDA then fetches a bowl of water and a rag, then proceeds to wipe away some blood from May's forehead.

The brief scene makes it look as though AIDA has been sedating May, as May is attached to a bag of liquid and she appears to be drowsy. Further, she's dressed simply in a robe, which may or may not offer a few clues as to how long she's been kept this way. Has May been here since she almost died from the ghost sickness? Was she perhaps kidnapped by AIDA when she was lounging at home? Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until the show returns from its hiatus. For now, it appears as though the people who know her the best aren't aware that she's been replaced by a lookalike.

Alarmingly, Director Jeffrey Mace has also greenlit an LMD program at S.H.I.E.L.D. As Coulson's team was finally reunited at last, Mace pulled Radcliffe aside to discuss the program. There's one catch: S.H.I.E.L.D. will need to have access to all of the information Radcliffe has on the program. Radcliffe doesn't seem terribly thrilled by the prospect, but he agrees, likely because he doesn't want to see AIDA be shut down.

Airing Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on ABC, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Chloe Bennet as Daisy "Quake" Johnson, Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie and more.
