SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Boom," the latest episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

In "Boom," the latest episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", the show suffered a major casualty. In an attempted coup by the Superior and the Watchdogs, Senator Ellen Nadeer was killed in an Inhuman explosion.

When the Superior's right-hand man Terrence Shockley showed up at Nadeer's office, he was a man with a plan: release Terrigen and watch Nadeer transform into an Inhuman like her brother Vijay. However, he was in for a big surprise. As it turns out, Shockley himself is Inhuman, and the Terrigen affected him, not Nadeer. When he emerged from his cocoon, he had been gifted with the ability to explode -- which is exactly what he did, killing Nadeer in the process.

Of course, none of the show's main characters will miss her. After all, Nadeer was virulently anti-Inhuman, to the point where she attempted to murder Vijay because of the Inhuman he had become. Nevertheless, that probably won't be the last we see of Vijay. Nadeer and the Watchdogs dumped him in a body of water, which just so happened to contain Terrigen crystals. In his last scene, Vijay was going through the process of Terrigenesis again, which could very well save his life.

Though she'll hardly be missed, her death could continue to have implications on the show, but that depends on how the fallout of the explosion is handled. If it's revealed that she was assassinated by an Inhuman, that could very well turn the tide of public opinion. So far as we've seen, though, only S.H.I.E.L.D. knows the specifics of Nadeer's death.

Nadeer wasn't the only character impacted by the Watchdogs; Director Jeffrey Mace was also captured by them. Despite learning that the serum that gives him his powers could send him into cardiac arrest, he used it to try and stop a battalion of Watchdogs from reaching Daisy, Fitz and Simmons. His plan worked, but the Watchdogs were able to overpower him and took him away.
