The upcoming fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added a new actor to its cast with the addition of Jeff Ward.RELATED: Captain America Actor Was Supposed to Appear on Agents of SHIELD.It was announced today that Ward is set to join the series in an undisclosed "key" recurring role for season five. While Deadline, who was the first to report the news, was unable to uncover many specifics regarding Ward's character, they did state his character is set for a multi-episode arc this season.

Ward is coming off of Lifetime's Manson's Lost Girls, and is the lead for season two of Syfy's Channel Zero. He has also appeared on shows such as Law and Order: Criminal Intent and Body of Proof.

Following the casting announcement, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg took to Twitter to welcome the newbie, further teasing Ward's role in the series.

Unfortunately, not much is known about the upcoming fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. outside of the fact that it'll feature a time jump once again and a move to Space, as teased in the season four finale. Without many details surrounding his character, it's hard to know just who -- or what -- the actor could be playing. With the return of the Kree this season, though, it's clear the series will be returning its focus to Inhumans following season three's Ghost Rider arc.
