In the Framework, Phil Coulson has a new lease on life. Instead of becoming the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he is a humble schoolteacher, but that doesn't mean he isn't suspicious of Hydra. A new clip from "Identity and Change," the next episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," shows that he has some rather interesting theories on the topic.

The clip opens with Coulson reciting what Daisy told him: that they're both plugged into the Framework, a virtual reality, and their bodies are being held captive in the real world. Coulson readily accepts this information; he points out that some of the events in this world don't line up, like May's Inhuman girl from Bahrain showing up in Cambridge, sparking "the Cambridge Incident." However, after that, his theories get a little... strange.

The Framework's version of Coulson believes that Hydra controls the population through the chemicals they put in their blue soap, which makes everyone believe the Framework "is a magical place." That throws Daisy for a loop, and she points out that he might be confusing the Framework with T.A.H.I.T.I., the procedure that messed with his brain and brought him back to life.

Before they can discuss the nuances of mind-control soap, however, Daisy gets a call from Ward. As it turns out, Hydra is onto Coulson, probably thanks to Aida/Madam Hydra. Daisy quickly tells Coulson he'll need a substitute, because they need to get him somewhere safe -- and fast.
